TROY — It didn’t take a college-level math class for the Troy Trojans to realize the predicament they faced.
There were 9 seconds on the clock when officials announced, due to an injury to a Troy offensive player, there would be a 10-second runoff.
Instead of a final-play shot at a potential game-tying touchdown, the Trojans were left with the vexing calculus.
They wouldn’t get a chance at all.
“Heartbreaking. Real heartbreaking,” linebacker Carlton Martial said after Arkansas State’s 50-43 victory on Saturday at Veterans Memorial Stadium.
