Denver Broncos outside linebacker DeMarcus Ware is starting the 2016 NFL season on Thursday night the way he ended the 2015 season in February – trying to make life miserable for Carolina Panthers quarterback Cam Newton.
In Super Bowl 50, Ware and his teammates succeeded. The former Troy star sacked the NFL's 2015 MVP twice as the Broncos beat Carolina 24-10 to win the NFL championship.
The Panthers visit Denver at 7:30 p.m. CDT Thursday in the first of the 256 games on the NFL's regular-season schedule.
While the opponent and objective will be the same, this will be the start of a new kind of season for Ware, a "no doubt" Hall of Famer, according to Denver defensive coordinator Wade Phillips.
