New England Patriots waive Troy's Antonio Garcia after illness ruins rookie season

The New England Patriots traded up to draft Troy offensive tackle Antonio Garcia last year. With Nate Solder, the Patriots' left offensive tackle, entering the final season of his contract, New England seemed to be targeting his replacement when it moved to select the Senior Bowler in the third round.

This offseason, Solder left the Patriots for the New York Giants in free agency. But Garcia won't replace him in the New England lineup. The Patriots waived Garcia on Friday.

A few practices into training camp last year, Garcia was sidelined, and the Patriots put him on reserve/non-football illness when the season started.
