Murray, Trojans adjusting on defense

Troy holds its fifth spring practice on Thursday afternoon. Hall said his defensive staff is throwing a lot at the players.

“We’re trying to install some things and see what we can and can’t do as a defense,” said the coach, who was promoted to defensive coordinator by head coach Chip Lindsey after coaching Troy’s outside linebackers and special teams last season. “We’re still playing a lot of the same stuff as last year, but early on we’ve put in some things just to see what they can handle.”

Junior Tyler Murray, who plays the nickel or spear spot for the Trojans, said his experience as a returning starter helps him soak up the new techniques and schemes.
