ATLANTA – Troy gave No. 75 Georgia State everything it could handle and more, but the Trojans came up just short as the Panthers escaped with a 4-3 victory Saturday at the GSU Clarkston Courts.
Troy (12-7), which saw its four-match win streak come to an end, had match point in doubles and on court three before Georgia State (9-6) was able to squeak out the victory in the Sun Belt opener for both clubs.
The Trojans and Panthers split the singles matches, with Troy winning on courts two, four and six with Carles Anton, Noah Martens and Vito Llinares continuing their strong springs.
