TROY, Ala. – Coming off one of the most dominant defensive performances in school history, Troy defensive tackle Marcus Webb has been named the Sun Belt Conference Defensive Player of the Week, the league office announced Monday.
Webb recorded three sacks and seven tackles – both career highs – in Troy's victory over Georgia Southern this past Saturday. Webb's three sacks rank as the 10th most in a game nationally this season and the third most in Troy history.
A senior from Decatur, Ala., Webb paced a Troy defense that recorded nine sacks against a Georgia Southern team entered the week 13th nationally with just nine sacks allowed on the season – the nine sacks are the fourth most nationally in a game by a team this season.
