TROY, Ala. – After an impressive 2-0 performance on opening weekend, Leanna Johnson has been tabbed the first Sun Belt Pitcher of the Week of 2022, the league announced on Tuesday.
The Sun Belt Preseason Pitcher of the Year quickly proved worthy of the honors after going 2-0 during opening weekend. Johnson picked up both of her wins against Southern Illinois, who made an NCAA Regional last season.
"I'm super proud of Leanna for earning this honor," co-interim head coach Holly Ward said. "Leanna threw lights out this weekend. She always gives us a chance to win when she's in the circle.
