TROY, Ala. – Troy sophomore Leanna Johnson has been tabbed as the Sun Belt Conference Pitcher of the Week, the league office announced on Tuesday.
Johnson, a Brantley, Ala., product, garners the award after tossing two shutouts and picking up a save against No. 16 South Carolina. Johnson fanned 21 batters pinning opposing teams to a .120 batting average over 14.2 innings of work.
"I am very proud of Leanna and think she is very deserving of this award this week," head coach Beth Mullins said. "She has been extremely consistent on the mound for our team all year and her and our entire pitching staff had another great week this week!
