Key takeaways from South Carolina football's narrow win over Troy

COLUMBIA – Shane Beamer has iterated since taking over that South Carolina, regardless of who it's playing, will celebrate wins.

USC will surely celebrate the narrow, 23-14, victory over Troy Saturday. But a celebration, albeit a premature one from sophomore safety Jahmar Brown, made the Gamecocks (3-2) sweat Troy more than they already were.

Brown had a scoop-and-score in the bag off a Jaylan Foster strip sack and after linebacker Damani Staley fumbled, too. But before crossing the goal line, Brown flipped the ball in celebration. The ball subsequently rolled through the end zone and the Trojans (2-3) regained possession trailing 20-14 early in the fourth quarter.
