TROY, Ala. – Troy sophomore Julia Winter has been named Sun Belt Conference Offensive Player of the Week, the league announced on Tuesday.
Winter exploded offensively in the second week of the season totaling three goals and one assist in the the Trojans' three games. The Marietta, Ga., native did her damage on just eight shots. It is her first league award.
Winter scored her first goal of the season in Troy's 2-0 win over Alabama State on Tuesday, a diving header off a cross from Haley Roberson. On Friday against Murray State, she tied the game with a classy header that floated over the keeper's head in the 55th minute.
