Jon Johnson column: Troy takes huge step with victory

What I saw once the game began – though my vision was impaired by the thick condensation on the press box window in front of me – was a Troy football team that is beginning to grow up during Neal Brown’s second year running the show.

Troy won, 37-31, in a rock’em, sock’em battle that is a good measuring stick on where the Trojans stand three games deep into the season.

It came down to the final play as Southern Miss lined up to throw after a timeout and three seconds showing with the ball resting on the Trojans 9.
