TROY, Ala. – After leading the Trojans to a dominant weekend sweep of Georgia Southern, sophomores Leanna Johnson and Katie Lively have earned Sun Belt Conference Pitcher and Player of the Week, the league office announced Tuesday.
Johnson (14-3) turned in a pair of two-hit shutouts en route to her third Sun Belt weekly award this season. The Brantley, Ala. native, recorded an impressive 0.00 ERA with 20 strikeouts after hurling 11 shutout innings.
On Friday, Johnson turned in her eighth double-digit strikeout contest of the season after fanning 14 Eagles before becoming just the fourth Trojan to eclipse the 50-career wins mark in game two of the doubleheader Saturday.
