Troy, Ala. – Troy men's track and field sophomore Jared Hayes has been named Sun Belt Conference Men's Track Athlete of the Week, as announced by the league office on Wednesday evening.
Hayes earned the honors after winning the 200m race at the Joe Walker Invitational in a season best time of 20.89. His race-winning time is currently the fastest 200m men's time in the Sun Belt Conference, 36th-fastest in the NCAA Division I-East rankings and sits 46th in all of NCAA Division I.
Hayes' honor marks the first Trojan to garner a Sun Belt weekly award this outdoor season and first since teammate Michael Alvernaz won field athlete of the week on Feb.
