Hot-shooting Georgia Southern downs Troy Trojans

Georgia Southern made nine of its first 11 shots against Troy Thursday night, then got hot in the second half. The Eagles hit 14 of their first 16 shots after intermission and earned a 90-82 victory over the Trojans.

“They had a great shooting night,” Troy coach Phil Cunningham said. “On a night when we didn’t get a whole lot of production outside of anybody but Jordon (Varnado), they were good offensively.”

It was almost historically good. The last time Troy (9-8, 2-3 Sun Belt) gave up 90 points to an opponent was two years ago against UT Arlington.
