CONWAY, S.C. – Tyler Owens and Nick Jones combined on a seven-hit shutout and Georgia Southern capitalized on an error for the game’s only score in a 1-0 victory over the Troy Trojans in the Sun Belt Conferrence Tournament semifinals on Saturday morning.
Troy, which outhit the Eagles 7-5, left 11 runners on base. The Trojans left the bases loaded in the top of the seventh inning when Jones got a strikeout to end the threat.
It was Troy’s 16th one-run decision of the season and the Trojans finished 8-8 in those games. It was the sixth shutout victory of the season for the Eagles.
