TROY – Hunter Reese wanted to play college football so badly he paid his own way to do it.
He tipped the scales around 190 pounds when he first arrived at Troy University, a late arrival in the 2014 fall camp when the walk-ons were added once school started.
The 6-foot-1 graduate of Wetumpka High School began his college career at safety and moved to nickelback and eventually outside linebacker as he literally grew into a role on the defense.
For his trouble, he paid tuition for three years. Don’t tell him this, but not every day was fun.
