Former Providence, current Troy golfer Masters qualifies for U.S. Amateur

Masters, a Headland native and former Providence Christian standout, tied for second in the event and earned the spot in the U.S. Amateur Championship after defeating Devin Suri and Mark Johnson over three playoff holes.

Rising senior Luke Moser punched his ticket to the U.S. Amateur Championship last week at a qualifier in Michigan. The pair’s inclusion in the 2016 U.S. Amateur Championship will mark the fifth straight year with a current Trojan golfer in the field.

Masters dominated down the stretch as he played seven of his final 13 rounds under par with a 70.54 stroke average.
