San Diego Chargers quarterback Philip Rivers and Denver Broncos outside linebacker DeMarcus Ware have been nominated for the Art Rooney Sportsmanship Award for the 2016 NFL season.
The award is presented annually to the player "who best demonstrates the qualities of on-field sportsmanship, including fair play, respect for the game and opponents, and integrity in competition."
A former Athens High School star, Rivers has started at quarterback in every San Diego game for the past 11 seasons. On Sunday, he became the ninth player in NFL history with 300 touchdown passes.
Ware played at Auburn High School and Troy before joining the NFL in 2005.
