TROY, Alabama – Fátima Fernández Cano, one of the most decorated women's golfers in Troy University history, has qualified for next week's U.S. Women's Open at the Country Club of Charleston.
Cano finished third with a 7-under 137 at the U.S. Women's Open Sectional earlier this month at the Druid Hills Golf Club in Atlanta to earn her spot at the 74thU.S. Women's Open. The field features 47 of the top 50 players in the current Rolex Women's World Golf Rankings and 13 past champions.
Cano has spent the last two seasons on the Symetra Tour, the official developmental tour of the LPGA, and has turned in four top 10s including a tie for sixth at the Symetra Classic two weeks ago with a 2-under 214.
