BOONE, N.C. – Two first-half turnovers leading to Appalachian State touchdowns proved too much for Troy to overcome during a 21-10 loss in a Sun Belt Conference showdown on Saturday.
In winning, Appalachian State (9-2 overall, 7-1 Sun Belt) earns the conference’s East Division title and will host the inaugural Sun Belt Conference Championship Game next Saturday against Louisiana-Lafayette, which beat Louisiana-Monroe 31-28 earlier in the day.
Troy lost for the first time in Sun Belt play (7-1) and finishes the regular season at 9-3. The Trojans will now await a bowl bid to continue its season.
