Troy defensive coordinator Vic Koenning can rattle off plenty of jokes when you ask him about redshirt freshman linebacker Carlton Martial.
“I don’t tell him to get low because he’s already low,” Koenning said during Troy’s Media Day on Aug. 11. “If you walk in here, you probably wouldn’t be able to see him behind this (podium).”
Counter to Koenning’s playful, exaggerated jabs, the reality is the coach knows Martial can have a rather large presence on the field despite his stature. In fact, the Trojan coaches awarded Martial a scholarship Wednesday – the last day of fall camp.
