TROY, Alabama – The busy preseason for Troy junior linebacker Carlton Martial continued Tuesday as he was named to both the Bronko Nagurski and Butkus Award Watch Lists.
The Bronko Nagurski Award is presented annually to the nation's Defensive Player of the Year by the Charlotte Athletic Club, while the Butkus Award goes to the nation's top linebacker and is presented by Butkus Foundation.
A Mobile, Ala., native, Martial is coming off a season in which he became just the 12th player and first underclassman in the last 20 years at the FBS level to finish a season with at least 100 tackles, 15 tackles for loss and three interceptions.
