TROY, Ala. – Carlton Martial has been named to his third freshman All-America team as the Football Writers Association of America tabbed the Troy linebacker to its prestigious Freshman All-America Team on Monday. Martial was also named to the USA Today and The Athletic Freshman All-America Teams last month.
Martial came to Troy as a walk-on and earned a scholarship prior to the start of the 2018 season. Undersized among his peers at a listed 5-foot-10, Martial finished his rookie campaign with 76 tackles and 8.5 tackles for loss on the season, both tops among freshmen in the Sun Belt.
