KIAWAH ISLAND, S.C. -- Fátima Fernández Cano fired a 3-under 69 to lead the Troy women's golf team in Sunday's opening round of the Kiawah Island Spring Classic at the Kiawah Island Golf Club.
Cano quickly raced out to 3-under par after the first six holes as she birdied the 12th, 15th and 16th holes. She made the turn at 2-under and then birdied No. 7 to close out the day with her best round of the season.
The Trojans shot 9-over as a team on Sunday and find themselves just seven shot back of College of Charleston for second place.
