TROY, Alabama – After winning her second tournament of the year, Troy's Fátima Fernández Cano has been named the Sun Belt Conference Women's Golfer of the Month, the league office announced Wednesday afternoon.
Cano picked up the fourth Sun Belt monthly honor of her career after she tied her own school record by shooting a 6-under 210 to claim a share of the individual title at the Kiawah Island Spring Classic last week.
In addition to tying for first in the field of 216 individual golfers, Cano also bested the No. 52 ranked player in the country in William & Mary's Alessandra Lui by five shots.
