TROY, Alabama -- Troy junior Fátima Fernández Cano capped a record-breaking season by being named the Sun Belt Conference Female Golfer of the Year, the league office announced Monday morning.
Cano becomes the first Troy golfer – male or female – to earn Sun Belt Golfer of the Year honors and the first women's golfer in the school's Division I history to earn a golfer of the year award.
"Fátima put together a remarkable season from start to finish and I don't think there is anyone in the league that was more deserving," Troy head coach Bart Barnes said.
