Kate Benton had three of Troy's five hits in the opening game loss to UL Lafayette on Friday.
Cajun Alex Stewart threw a complete-game five-hit shutout in Game 1 and Kylee Jo Trahan followed by limiting Troy to one run in Game 2. ULL (24-2 overall, 6-1 Sun Belt Conference), ranked fifth in the nation, meanwhile hit three homers in each game to take 11-0 and 8-1 victories over the Trojans.
“We needed to make better adjustments quicker, and I think we kind of struggled with that,” said senior Ashley Winters, whose homer in the second game was Troy’s only run of the day.
