AUBURN – It was a bit of back and forth, but Auburn got the job done against Troy on Wednesday.
With neither side able to create much separation, Auburn was able to sneak out of Plainsman Park with a win thanks to a game-ending double play that preserved a 6-5 victory.
“We’re fortunate tonight to turn a double play when it mattered the most and get out of here with a win,” Auburn head coach Butch Thompson said.
Auburn broke a 5-5 deadlock in the eighth inning. The Tigers (5-0) found themselves with two Troy runners on first and third and just one out.
