TROY — A sheepish smile creeps across Luke Whittemore’s face with the Troy receiver acknowledging the nonsense behind his answer — yet giving a nod to the humor.
The Troy receiver, after his one shining passing moment in the Trojans’ 45-21 win over Coastal Carolina last weekend, quipped that he may just retire his arm.
His 724 passer’s rating — thanks to his 1-for-1 passing, 35-yard touchdown performance — would surely be a school record. Right?
“That’s kind of a goal,” Whittemore said, reminiscent in a way to the Seinfeld episode, “The Race.”
Whittemore simply will choose not to throw.
