TROY — Zac Thomas accounted for five touchdowns to lead No. 22 Appalachian State in a 48-13 thumping of Troy on Friday.
Thomas was 28-of-34 passing for 326 yards and four touchdowns, plus added a 5-yard TD run.
Thomas Hennigan caught 11 passes for 140 yards for the Mountaineers (11-1, 7-1 Sun Belt), who scored on their first five possessions.
Darrynton Evans' 9-yard TD run with 8:49 left in the first half gave App State a 34-10 lead.
Evans scored three times.
