Eight student-athletes in the state of Alabama are among 517 nominees for 2016 NCAA Woman of the Year.
The award will be given out Oct. 16 to the athlete that best exemplifies academic achievement, athletic excellence, community service and leadership.
All athletes were nominated by their respective schools. The Woman of the Year selection committee will narrow the list to 30 athletes, all of whom will be recognized at the awards dinner at the Westin in Indianapolis.
