Earning his 79th cap, Christian rifled home his 23rd international goal, again showing his technical ability by controlling a left-foot volley that flew past Brighton's Matt Ryan in the Australia goal.
That was after just seven minutes but Australia levelled through Mile Jedinak's penalty on 38 minutes, awarded after a video assistant referee (VAR) review. That's how it stayed at the Samara Arena.
