Liam Marshall was the try-scoring hero once again as Wigan proved their championship pedigree and condemned Catalans Dragons to another agonising Grand Final defeat.
Homegrown winger Marshall, 27, has enjoyed an outstanding season and his typically clinical finish in the 52nd minute sent Matt Peet’s men on their way to victory.
It was Marshall who scored the winning try when the cherry and whites won the Challenge Cup after beating Huddersfield Giants at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in Peet’s debut campaign in charge last term.
The boyhood Wigan fan, who came through the ranks at his hometown club, produced the goods when it mattered most once again as Wigan claimed their sixth Grand Final win and first since 2018.
