Dele Alli is no stranger to adulation. But, make no mistake, he knows precisely who deserves the biggest round of applause.

‘The NHS, what they are doing is amazing and, as the general public, we can’t thank them enough for what they are doing - it’s amazing to see,’ said the Tottenham midfielder.

‘We look at what they are doing and we appreciate how amazing it is.’

During his own period of self-isolation, like most of us, the 23-year-old has watched in awe as the UK’s front line hospital staff risk their own health fighting the coronavirus crisis.
