Liverpool fans' group Spirit of Shankly have written to the club to explain the decision to furlough their non-playing staff.
On Saturday, the Premier League leaders joined Tottenham, Newcastle and Norwich City in putting them on furlough – although they promised to top up staff wages so they are paid their full salaries.
Liverpool have faced significant criticism for the decision to place their staff onto the government scheme, which sees the taxpayer pay 80 per cent of wages up to £2,500, especially given they made £42million in profit last year.
