Leeds United midfielder Brenden Aaronson has a relegation release clause in his contract.
The USA international joined Leeds United from Red Bull Salzburg for $30million last year amid interest from a number of European clubs but his representatives inserted the clause to leave the 22-year old with a route away from Elland Road should they drop out of the top flight.
That was confirmed on Sunday evening following their defeat by Tottenham and Leeds will hold meetings this week to assess their squad and ascertain all the potential departures.
Aaronson's relegation clause means that the midfielder is likely to depart the team before the transfer window shuts on September 1, with interested clubs only needing to trigger the clause to open negotiations.
