Tottenham's Eriksen loses midfield battle to hand Leverkusen victory

A goal needlessly conceded through sloppy defending midway through the second half saw Tottenham Hotspur slump to their second Champions League defeat at Wembley. It was no less than the home side deserved for what was an abject performance in front of a club record attendance of over 85,000. The loss now means that Spurs will need to rely on other results going their way for them to progress to the knock out stages of the competition.

It is hard for Spurs to take a single positive from what was, by far, their worst performance this season.
