Tottenham's defence offers a blueprint for Guardiola, Man City to emulate

The scorelines were the same, the emotions very different. Manchester City's and Tottenham's last games each finished 4-0. City were eviscerated at Everton, while Spurs were superb against West Bromwich Albion. They meet Saturday with Pep Guardiola's defence having been breached four times in their latest outing and Mauricio Pochettino's having let in just four goals in eight Premier League games.

Tottenham have the division's best defensive record. City have conceded four more goals than 16th-place Middlesbrough. Spurs have made a success of playing three at the back. City have yet to win a game in which Guardiola has started with three central defenders.
