Erik Lamela could miss the rest of the season with the mysterious hip injury that has kept him out since October.
Tottenham's record signing last played in their EFL Cup defeat to Liverpool four-and-a-half months ago and what appeared a minor problem first felt in training has not gone away.
The 25-year-old returned to Roma, who sold the player to Spurs for £25.7million in 2013, in January to work with a physiotherapist whom he grew close to at his former club. It was hoped the change of scenery would aid his recovery.

He has since returned to England and Tottenham announced in their squad news on Friday that the player 'continues to work outdoors and is now stepping up his rehabilitation.
