Tottenham striker Harry Kane has told The Times it would "a dream" to be the next permanent England captain.
As Tottenham's vice-captain, Kane, 22, has deputised for Hugo Lloris on a number of occasions in the past two years and he has been mooted as a possible permanent successor to England captain Wayne Rooney.
The Manchester United forward's position is under threat after he was pictured on a night out in the early hours of last Saturday, after missing the World Cup qualifying win over Scotland.
Asked if he wants the job, Kane told the newspaper: "Definitely.
