Tottenham will be without Erik Lamela for the rest of the season after the club confirmed he will undergo surgery on a troublesome and mysterious hip injury.
The 25-year-old has not played for Tottenham since October 25 when he emerged from the bench in an EFL Cup tie against Liverpool.
While Lamela has undergone extensive rehabilitation in an effort to avoid an invasive procedure, he has been unable to return to a level where he can resume full training, leaving surgery as the only option.

Tottenham tweeted: '@ErikLamela is to undergo surgery on his hip on Saturday.
