Tottenham manager Antonio Conte is set to undergo surgery to remove his gallbladder after falling ill with severe abdominal pain, the club revealed on Wednesday.
The Spurs boss has been diagnosed with cholecystitis - a condition causing redness and swelling of the gallbladder - and will return to managerial duty following a 'period of recuperation' after having the operation in Turin.
In a statement on Wednesday, the north London club said: 'Antonio Conte recently became unwell with severe abdominal pain.
'Following a diagnosis of cholecystitis, he will be undergoing surgery to remove his gallbladder today and will return following a period of recuperation.
