It was amid the relentless onslaught of fixtures last Christmas that Dele Alli truly started to sparkle.

Seven goals in four matches between December 18 and January 4 lifted Tottenham from fifth to their ultimate finishing position of second in the Premier League.

By a quirk of the fixture list, that fruitful run started with a goal against Burnley, and how seventh-placed Spurs and their manager Mauricio Pochettino could do with Alli finding the net at Turf Moor on Saturday.
