Tottenham Hotspur promise steward who was filmed performing farcical safety checks before Premier League game against Bournemouth will not work for the club again

The steward filmed performing slack, ineffective frisks of supporters before Tottenham Hotspur’s clash with Bournemouth will not work at White Hart Lane again, Sportsmail understands.

Mobile phone footage ahead of Saturday’s Premier League fixture captured the fluorescent-jacketed member of security staff carrying out shoddy searches of fans as they entered the ground.

In some instances the steward did not even touch supporters and his at-best perfunctory actions – in a week when the Borussia Dortmund team bus was rocked by three explosions – prompted widespread condemnation.

Tottenham declined to comment on the matter, but the steward – who worked for a contractor rather than the club – will no longer be on duty at the stadium.
