Tottenham Hotspur manager Mauricio Pochettino criticised for playing Dele Alli on the left wing in Gent defeat by Harry Redknapp and Jermaine Jenas

Former Spurs manager Harry Redknapp and player Jermaine Jenas have criticised Mauricio Pochettino for playing Dele Alli on the left wing against Gent.

Alli lined up on the left side of a 4-2-3-1 formation in Belguim, but was ineffective as Spurs lost 1-0 and face a fight to stay in the Europa League.

Redknapp, who led Spurs to the quarter finals of the Champions League in 2011, was unimpressed with Alli being pushed to the periphery.

Speaking as a pundit on BT Sport at half-time, he said: 'They are slow, there is no pace in the team, no spark to them, the system doesn’t suit them with Dele stuck out there, they have got to change something.
