Harry Kane scored on his Tottenham return, but the London side's Premier League title hopes suffered a major setback as they were beaten 2-1 at Burnley.

Burnley went in front soon after half-time when Chris Wood headed home, and, although Kane fired in a swift equaliser, struck the decisive blow when Ashley Barnes tapped in late on.

Kane, back from injury, had needed only a quarter of an hour to come close, turning and running into the area before firing a low shot just wide.

But although Spurs were beginning to enjoy the majority of possession they were struggling to ask keeper Tom Heaton too many questions, headers from Kane and Serge Aurier header posing no real problems.
