Tottenham gain work permit clearance for Carlos Vinicius with Benfica striker to undergo medical on Friday as Jose Mourinho edges closer to finally landing back-up for Harry Kane

Tottenham are understood to have received work permit clearance for Brazilian loan striker Carlos Vinicius.

Spurs have an agreement with Benfica to sign the 25-year-old on a season long loan with a £36m option to buy.

The London club need a work permit as Vinicius does not have international caps but it is understood that their application has now been granted.

Vinicius is 6ft 3in tall but quick and mobile enough to play on left wing and as centre forward

Vinicius is expected to undergo a medical with Spurs on Friday.

Jose Mourinho has been searching for a back-up for England captain Harry Kane and had considered moves for Southampton’s Danny Ings and Ollie Watkins, who eventually moved from Brentford to Aston Villa.
