Tottenham endured a frustrating evening at the Stadium of Light as they were held to a goalless draw against a Sunderland side that began the evening in last place in the Premier League. Spurs started much the brighter and dominated possession throughout the game, but only managed to create a couple of clear-cut chances throughout the 90 minutes. Manager Mauricio Pochettino will look on this as two points dropped rather than one gained.
Positives
In a generally lacklustre performance, Spurs could take some comfort from maintaining a clean sheet. All too often in past seasons, Spurs have lost concentration on nights like these but the back line, excellently marshalled by Toby Alderweireld, held firm.
