Tottenham have found themselves on the receiving end of criticism as fans used the government's new emergency alert system test to mock the north London club during their 6-1 defeat by Newcastle.
The alarm, which sounded at shortly before 3pm, was accompanied by a message which popped up on mobile phones explaining that the siren was a test and people did not need to take any action.
It came during the half-time break when Newcastle lead Tottenham 5-0 after scoring all five goals within the opening 21 minutes to stun the visitors.
At the expense of Tottenham, football fans on social media were quick to bombard the club with jokes and memes.
