Tottenham ended the year with a lesson in the art of finishing, led by Heung-min Son whose 12th goal of the season gave them some degree of comfort as they toiled before finally overwhelming Bournemouth.
It was not as simple and straightforward as the score might suggest. The visitors were the better team for large parts of the game between Pape Matar Sarr’s opening goal in the ninth minute to Son’s in the 71st, scored on the break but utterly wasteful in front of goal.
Then Richarlison added a third and Alex Scott pulled one back in a chaotic closing spell.
